The Power of Song - Belper Community Choir is on the Rise!
The Belper Community Choir is hitting all the right notes this autumn as it continues to grow in confidence, and community spirit. This much loved Belper choir - known for its friendship, inclusivity, and infectious joy of singing - will take centre stage at a spectacular charity concert A Night of 100 Stars.
Led by musical director Emma Morehouse, who took over in December 2025, the choir has become a vibrant hub where voices of all ages and backgrounds come together. Since Emma’s arrival, the choir has flourished — not just musically, but as a supportive, uplifting community.
Emma said:
“Watching people grow in confidence since I became musical director has been incredibly fulfilling. Seeing them shine at The Love Belper Festival in July was heartwarming. This group doesn’t just sing together — they build friendships, support one another, and share something truly special.”
Emma also leads The Wildflower Community Choir, which is based in Ockbrook. Both choirs sing an exciting mix of music genres — from rock and pop to classical choral music and show tunes — ensuring there’s something for every voice and every taste.
On Saturday 21 November, the choirs will unite for A Night of 100 Stars, a dazzling charity concert featuring freelance tenor Chris Why at the Reach Conference Centre, Pride Park. All proceeds will support the Reach Community Grocery, helping local families and individuals facing the pressures of the current cost of living crisis.
New members are welcome to join the choir for a free taster session. Get in touch via WhatsApp on 07875 059049.
