South Normanton Shop closed in partnership operation
On Wednesday, PCSO Hunt from the Amber Valley SNT assisted Derbyshire County Councils Trading Standards department with inspections of premises in South Normanton to establish compliance of goods being supplied to consumers.
During one of the inspection a quantity of illicit cigarettes and hand rolling tobacco was discovered with 1920 cigarettes and 1.6kg of tobacco seized with an estimated retail value of almost £3,000
Counterfeit tobacco products may contain higher levels of harmful substances than genuine products whilst the counterfeit tobacco trade links with organised crime groups brining criminality into local communities.
The investigation into this matter will continue by the Trading Standards department.
