New Community Coffee Morning Launches in Ripley to Help Tackle Loneliness
Residents across Ripley and the surrounding villages are being invited to enjoy good company, conversation and cake as a new monthly Friendship Group launches this August.
Organised by local home care provider Avanti Homecare, the free community coffee morning has been created to bring older people together in a warm, welcoming environment where new friendships can flourish.
The first event will take place at The Brown Bear Café, Ripley, with guests invited to drop in for a friendly chat, meet new people and enjoy a complimentary slice of cake.
The event has been established in response to the growing issue of loneliness and social isolation among older people, providing a relaxed space where everyone is welcome whether they come with friends or on their own.
Annabelle Johnson, Marketing & Community Engagement Officer at Avanti Homecare, said:
"As a home care provider, we see first-hand how much of a difference simple conversation and community connections can make to someone's wellbeing. This Coffee Morning Group isn't about care it's about creating opportunities for people to get out of the house, meet others and feel part of their local community. We hope it becomes something people genuinely look forward to each month."
Alongside tea, coffee and conversation, future sessions will include light activities, games, guest speakers and helpful information from local organisations, helping attendees stay connected with both their community and local support services.
The initiative is open to anyone aged 50+, carers, family members and anyone who may benefit from meeting new people.
