The annual awards ceremony, held in London, recognises individuals, schools, businesses, councils, healthcare organisations and residential developments dedicated to enhancing everyday journeys and helping more people to walk, wheel, cycle, and use public transport.
South Normanton Nursery School was named ‘Early Years Establishment of the Year’, William Gilbert Primary School picked up the award for best Mode Shift Month campaign and the county council was also recognised for its Mode Shift Month campaign aimed at council employees to promote alternatives to travelling by car.
Derbyshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Net Zero and Environment Councillor Carol Wood said: “We want everyone to thrive at home, in school, work and in their communities where everyone has the chance to live healthy and independent lives.
“We’re committed to improving the way in which people travel around the county to support healthier travel choices and it’s great to see the council and local schools recognised for their work to promote good travel habits among pupils from nursery, through to school age and onwards into employment.
“Congratulations to everyone who was involved.”
