Amber Valley MP Praises 14-Year-Old Cricket World Champion Ahead of South Africa Bid
Linsey Farnsworth, Member of Parliament for Amber Valley, has formally recognised the "extraordinary dedication" of 14-year-old cricket prodigy Hannah Reast and her family in a Parliamentary motion, as the young athlete launches a crowdfunding campaign to represent England on the world stage once again.
The recognition follows a historic period for the Reast family and Butterley United Cricket Club. Following her selection for England’s Emerging Performance Player Pathway, Hannah represented her country at the Under-17s Indoor Cricket tournament in India in October 2025, returning home as a World Champion.
Now, the Derbyshire County player - who finished last summer as the second-highest wicket-taker in her senior league - has her sights set on the 2026 World Series in South Africa.
Linsey Farnsworth MP said:
"Hannah is a shining example of the talent and tenacity we have here in Amber Valley. To represent England at 14 is an amazing achievement and it was a privilege to recognise her talents in Westminster.
"However, elite success requires immense dedication and support. Hannah trains five days a week throughout the winter, and because this level of competition is entirely self-funded, she needs our community behind her."
Support Hannah’s Journey
With the World Series in South Africa scheduled for September/October 2026, Hannah’s mum Lyndsay has launched a crowdfunding page to help raise funds.

A Legacy of Service
The Parliamentary motion also celebrates the deep roots the Reast family has within the Amber Valley sporting community. Hannah’s father, Scott Reast, recently made headlines by hitting 191 runs last cricket season- the highest individual innings in the 150-year history of Butterley United Cricket Club.
Beyond their on-field success, the MP highlighted the "decades of dedication" shown by both Scott and Lyndsay Reast. As long-standing coaches and volunteers, the pair have been instrumental in nurturing the next generation of local cricketers and preserving the 150-year legacy of their home club.
