Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service on board with mental health and wellbeing
Derbyshire County Council and Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service are working together to raise awareness around mental health and wellbeing.
The two organisations have teamed up to spread help and advice around support for mental health, suicide prevention and emotional wellbeing.
This includes producing 8,000 Derbyshire Mental Health and Wellbeing Support guides to be handed out at community events and during home safety visits.
Derbyshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Health and Communities, Councillor Carol Hart said: “Good mental health and wellbeing is vital for everyone and we’re pleased to be working in partnership with Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service to spread the word about help and support.”
The handy leaflets contain a wide range of information including where to access support in a crisis, information about the five ways to wellbeing, as well as important information about fire safety.
Crew Manager Charlie Buxton from Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Services Prevention Department said: “We all know mental health and wellbeing is a high priority and it's something we take seriously at Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service, not only for our own employees, but for the wider communities we serve too.
“With this in mind, we have teamed up with Derbyshire County Council to produce a mental health and wellbeing support guide to provide advice and support to people involved in distressing emergency incidents.
“The handy booklet will also be given out by our fire crews and community safety officers when engaging with our communities at events to generally promote good mental health and wellbeing.”
