More That 40 Derbyshire Schools Set To Benefit From 9.6M Funding
Schools are set to benefit from a share of more than £9.6m for improvements funded by Derbyshire County Council.
The funding, if approved by the council’s Cabinet later this week, would pay for improvements including window and door replacements, rewiring and playground resurfacing at more than 40 schools across Derbyshire.
The decision, to be considered at a meeting on Thursday (July 28), would also fund plans to increase capacity at five schools across the county.
Schools which could be expanded to meet future demand include Poolsbrook Primary Academy in Chesterfield, Harpur Hill Primary School in Buxton and Hunloke Park Primary School in Wingerworth.
Derbyshire County Council Cabinet Member for Education Councillor Alex Dale said: “We’re committed to giving children in Derbyshire the best start in life and access to a high-quality education is at the heart of that.
“The approval of this funding would not only allow improvement projects to take place but would also ensure that we are expanding schools in areas where we know there will be an increase in demand in the future.
“We’re incredibly proud of the hard work our schools are doing to improve education across Derbyshire, particularly in light of the last few years, and this vital funding would continue to support this work.”
