Man distracts woman in Lea in order to burgle her
We are appealing for witnesses and urging people to be on their guard following a distraction burglary in Lea.
Shortly before 4pm on Thursday 1 April, a man visited the home of a woman in her 70s in Main Road.
He told her that a car outside was damaged and asked if it was her vehicle. Concerned, she went to check, thinking the man was following her to the car.
When she realised he wasn’t behind her, she returned to the house and saw him running away from her home, having stolen her purse.
She has described him as white, balding and with a tattoo on his face or neck.
