Tram Weekend at Crich Tramway Village
Crich Tramway Village, home of the National Tramway Museum, is to host its annual Tram Weekend on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th September, which will see all the operational trams running over the weekend.
The most recently restored London County Council No. 1 tram is planned to run both days, with a display of London trams on the Saturday.
Sunday will feature a display to mark 140 years of Blackpool trams.
Visitors will get the chance to see recent arrivals from Birkenhead, Liverpool Corporation Tramways No. 762, Birkenhead Corporation Tramways No. 20 and Wallasey Corporation Tramways No. 78, which will be on static display both days alongside Liverpool 869.
Some of our Works trams will also be carrying passengers throughout the day and there will be additional curatorial displays and sales in the Exhibition Hall.
On both days there will be a band performing on the bandstand while the Crescendo Choir will entertain at Town End, where you start your tram journeys, on Saturday.
The trams run along the period street into open countryside with breathtaking views of the Derwent Valley.
Event organiser, James Blythe, said:
“The event is a great opportunity to showcase the trams in our collection, with a chance for visitors to see and ride on all our operational fleet in action over the weekend. Displays will include the recent arrivals from the Birkenhead tramway. We are also offering the opportunity to take a short Workshop tours so that you can see our current, ongoing restorations.”
Event Manager, Cand Bell, said:
“This event is not only for transport enthusiasts, but is a great family day out, with children’s indoor and outdoor play areas, an enchanting woodland walk and the chance to ride on as many trams as you wish over the weekend.”
The event is included in the price of your admission ticket and valid return tickets may be used. For ticket prices visit: https://tickets.tramway.co.uk/tickets/#events
