Opticians celebrates two decades in Belper
GLASSES will be raised by the team at a Belper opticians to celebrate its 20th anniversary in the town with a special event.
To mark the milestone, Specsavers Belper, which is locally owned and run, will be celebrating at its King Street store on Saturday 14 February. The store will be decorated with balloons and banners and there will be a celebratory cake for visitors to enjoy.
A playlist from 2006 will provide a nostalgic musical backdrop to a whole host of entertainment between 10am and 4pm. A stilt walker will be joined by a magician and a face painter and the team, who will be wearing specially designed commemorative t-shirts on the day, will also be fundraising for Sight Support Derbyshire.
‘Since opening our doors in 2006, we’ve felt like part of the community in Belper, supporting local activities, focussing on customer service and endeavouring to offer the best possible eye and ear care,’ says store director, Andy McBride, who, along with dispensing optician and store manager Tara Parkin, has been part of the team since the store launched. ‘Our loyal customer base is testament to the team and the high quality of customer service they deliver.’
Specsavers Belper opened two decades ago with one optometrist and six staff and now has a team of more than 30, including six colleagues who have been there more than 10 years.
‘We’re really excited to be celebrating our 20-year anniversary this week,’ adds fellow store director, Annette Wale, who has been part of the team since the year the store opened. ‘We hope our customers and the local community will join us on Saturday to help us celebrate our milestone. It’s set to be a fun-filled day as we look forward to the next two decades in Belper.’
