Plan for easing lockdown restrictions
The National Lockdown remains in place, but the Government has announced a 4-step plan to ease restrictions.
The first step will see pupils returning to face-to-face education from 8 March.
On this date outdoor recreation, such as a picnic, will be allowed. This can be on your own, with one other person, or with your household or support bubble. Indoor visits to care homes will also start again for a single named visitor.
The second step is scheduled for 29 March when six people, or two households, will be allowed to meet outdoors. At the same time sports facilities will open and organised sport be allowed. Travel outside your local area will also be permitted.
On 12 April it is hoped non-essential retail and personal care will re-open, along with outdoor hospitality, indoor leisure and self-contained holiday accommodation.
On 17 May it is planned to lift social contact rules around most outdoor activity, allow six people, or two households, to meet indoors and allow indoor hospitality and hotels to re-open.
The fourth step is scheduled for 21 June when it is hoped all legal limits around social contact will be removed and the final closed sectors of the economy will be able to re-open.
