Are you a victim of anti-social behaviour? Share your experiences and help make a difference.

Published on Thursday 8 October 2026

Residents and businesses are being invited to steer the conversation at a new meeting examining the action being taken to address anti-social behaviour and reduce fear.

Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner Nicolle Ndiweni-Roberts will be using her next Public Assurance Meeting (PAM) to explore how Derbyshire Police and partners are tackling Anti-social Behaviour (ASB) and keeping communities safe, ensuring local residents' concerns remain at the heart of the discussion.

As part of her mission to strengthen the public’s voice in policing and ensure victims remain front and centre of her work, the PCC is once again inviting residents and businesses to put forward questions based on their own experiences and the impact ASB has had on their mental and physical wellbeing in advance of the discussions.

ASB remains a top concern of residents and businesses across Derbyshire and features as one of six key priorities in the PCC’s Police and Crime Plan, shaped by the people who live and work in Derbyshire.

ASB is any behaviour that causes harassment, alarm, distress, nuisance or annoyance and can fit into one of three categories: personal, environmental or nuisance.

In her most recent Listening To You consultation, just under half (47%) of respondents said they were worried about being a victim of ASB, mirroring last year’s results at 45%. Both are lower than the previous two years (55%, 56%).

The PCC has been clear from the outset that ASB must be addressed in partnership with agencies coordinating action to support victims, deliver robust enforcement and prevent future activity by diverting potential perpetrators at the earliest opportunity.

Home Office funding secured by the PCC has delivered thousands of extra patrols in ‘hot spot’ areas with long-standing problems, leading to hundreds of arrests, stop searches and the recovery of cash and drugs. The extra visibility patrols have also brought sweeping reductions in ASB in many areas of the county.

Derbyshire’s Immediate Justice Service, enabling perpetrators to give back to the communities they harm, is now one of the most successful schemes in the country, achieving consistent reductions in reoffending rates.

And in listening and acting on public concerns, the PCC’s zero-tolerance approach with the force to crack down on illegally ridden e-scooters has put Derbyshire on the map and brought immediate redress for residents impacted by the growing menace.

To date, more than 1,000 e-scooters have been taken off the streets of Derbyshire since the groundbreaking ‘seize and dispose’ policy was first introduced on 1st November 2024.

The Government has now introduced national measures allowing police to crush or dispose of seized anti-social vehicles much faster than the previous 14-day rule.

Ahead of the meeting, Police and Crime Commissioner Nicolle Ndiweni-Roberts said: “ASB has a profound impact on victims and communities and should not be underestimated. We know that the emotional and psychological toll of these experiences can take many years to recover from, and it is vital we respond effectively at the earliest opportunity.

“It is important to me that victims are engaged fully in the work I undertake with partners to address ASB. This helps me to identify what is working and what needs improving to help communities feel safer, listened to and empowered to influence decisions. This is the premise for all my PAM meetings, and I would encourage victims, residents and businesses who have been on the receiving end of this behaviour to help lead the discussions at my next meeting.

“I am proud of the progress made, and the leading role we have taken nationally in our response to ASB. I recognise these achievements have often emerged from lived experiences of these issues, and so it is more important than ever that we keep these conversations flowing to build on our success. Please contribute your questions and help us to do even more to protect our communities from ASB.”

Public Assurance Meetings are recorded and published via the Commissioner’s website and social media channels.

Questions should be submitted in writing from Monday 5th October 2026 and cannot be in relation to current investigations. The deadline for submission of all questions is Wednesday 14th October 2026.
