Derby College Group welcomes new students in style at Freshers' Fair 2026
Derby College Group (DCG) rolled out the red carpet for new students this month, with Freshers' Fair 2026 taking place across three campuses: The Roundhouse, Broomfield Hall, and The Joseph Wright Centre.
Thousands of students attended the events, which gave them the chance to explore everything on offer at DCG beyond the classroom, from career opportunities to wellbeing support, right at the start of their learning journey.
Students had the opportunity to speak directly with a wide range of leading employers, charities and businesses that work closely with the DCG to offer work experience, placements, support and career opportunities.
Just as important was the chance for students to familiarise themselves with the high level of support available to them throughout their time at DCG. This included dedicated teams such as the Deaf Access Team, the Learning Support Team, and the Resilience Team, all on hand to offer guidance and reassurance to students as they begin their studies.
Students also took part in a range of enrichment activities throughout the day, testing their reactions and judgement with fun, interactive challenges, as well as making new friends and connections that will support them throughout their college experience.
Aaron Denton, Vice Principal: Student Experience and Inclusion, said: "Freshers' Fair is such an important part of the student journey here at DCG. It's about far more than just settling in, it's about making sure every student knows the wide range of support that's here for them, whether that's academic help, wellbeing support, or simply a friendly face to turn to. Seeing students across all three sites getting stuck in, meeting employers, and connecting with our support teams has been brilliant, and it sets exactly the right tone as they begin their studies with us."

Freshers' Fair 2026 is part of DCG's wider commitment to supporting students both academically and personally, ensuring every student has access to the guidance, resources, and connections they need to succeed.
