Halloween Themed Open Day to Raise Funds for Derby College Group's Animal Unit
Families are invited to a fang-tastic day out at Broomfield Hall this October, as Derby College Group's Animal Unit hosts a Halloween Themed Open Day in aid of animal welfare and the animal unit.
The event takes place on Sunday 18th October 2026, from 11am to 3pm, and is organised and run entirely by DCG's animal care students.
Visitors can look forward to a wide range of activities throughout the day, including:
• Animal handling
• Animal feeding
• Charity stalls
• Information on courses
• Kids' craft making
• Refreshments
All proceeds from the day will go towards improving the Animal Unit and supporting the welfare of the animals housed there, as well as funding its continued expansion. Donations are also welcomed.
Tickets will be available at the door, priced at £3 for adults and £2 for children, and can be paid by cash or card.
Samantha Smith, Head of Animal Science at Derby College Group said: "This is a brilliant opportunity for the local community to come and see the fantastic work our animal care students do all year round, while having some spooky season fun with the family. Every penny raised makes a real difference to the animals in our care."
Getting to Broomfield Hall
Two regular bus services operated by Trent Barton stop at Broomfield Hall. Visitors are advised to check the Trent Barton or Catch Your Bus websites for timetable information.
Most of the Broomfield Hall campus is accessible, although as the site is a working farm, terrain in some areas may be uneven, and attractions can be spread some distance apart. Disabled parking is available at the Main Car Park, accessed via the Main Entrance.
