Belper care home named among the Top 20 Care Homes in the East Midlands

Published on Thursday 19 March 2026

Family-run care provider Milford Care is proud to announce that Spencer Grove Care Home in Belper has been recognised in the carehome.co.uk Top 20 Care Home Awards East Midlands 2026 – for its outstanding service and personalised approach to care that helps residents remain independent.

The awards celebrate the highest-rated care homes across each region of the UK and are determined entirely by independent reviews from residents, relatives and friends. Spencer Grove achieved a perfect Review Score of 10, reflecting consistently outstanding feedback from those who experience care first-hand.
Spencer Grove Care Home, rated ‘Outstanding’ by the CQC, provides residential and nursing care, including both long-term living and respite stays.

Bedrooms are en-suite and can be furnished to reflect residents’ tastes, helping people settle in quickly. Spencer Grove also offers Care Suites – beautifully finished apartments that give residents more space and independence, while still keeping care and companionship close by. Many suites enjoy elevated views across the Derbyshire countryside.

One of Spencer Grove’s standout features is its south-facing rooftop gardens, a favourite place to sit, chat and take in the scenery. Inside the home, residents help shape a varied programme of activities, from armchair exercise and arts and crafts to pampering days.

Briony Marshall, Acting Home Manager of Spencer Grove Care Home, said: “We are incredibly proud to see Spencer Grove recognised among the Top 20 care homes in the East Midlands. These awards are especially meaningful because they are based on the voices of residents and their families. We are also delighted that Milford Care has recently been named one of the Top 20 Small Care Home Groups in England, further reflecting our commitment to providing exceptional care across all our homes.

“Our approach at Milford Care is about ensuring people remain active participants in their own lives. That means giving residents a genuine say in the way their care is delivered and the way day-to-day life looks, from personal routines and preferences to the activities and atmosphere that make a home feel like home.

“This award is a tribute to the Spencer Grove team, who consistently go above and beyond to deliver thoughtful, individualised care with kindness and respect. We’re grateful to everyone who shared their experiences, your feedback means a great deal to the whole team.”

The recognition highlights Milford Care’s continued commitment to providing high-quality residential, nursing and dementia care, while creating supportive environments where residents feel valued, comfortable and included as part of a thriving community.
