Opticians celebrates 20 years in Belper
The team at a Belper opticians have celebrated their 20th anniversary with a special event and a fundraising raffle.
To mark the milestone birthday, Specsavers Belper, which is locally owned and run, celebrated at its King Street store where the team, dressed in commemorative t-shirts, raised more than £180 for Sight Support Derbyshire.
With balloons, banners and a celebratory cake for visitors to enjoy, there was also a playlist from 2006 offering a nostalgic musical backdrop. A stilt walker joined a magician and a face painter on the day to provide in-store entertainment.
Specsavers Belper opened two decades ago with one optometrist and six staff and now has a team of more than 30, including six colleagues who have been there more than 10 years.
‘Since opening our doors, we’ve felt like part of the community in Belper, supporting local activities and looking after our customers with the best possible eye and ear care,’ says store director, Andy McBride. ‘Twenty years is a real milestone, especially in today’s high street climate, so we wanted to host a celebratory event to say thank you.
‘It’s been really special to celebrate with the people who have supported us over the years. It was brilliant to be able to come together for such a fun-filled day,’ continues Andy.
‘Serving the community for the last two decades is such a privilege and this celebration has reminded us just how much Belper means to us.’
