Consultation opens on Main Modifications to Amber Valley Borough Local Plan 2022-2040
The Amber Valley Borough Local Plan 2022-2040 was submitted to the Secretary of State for examination last year with Public Hearing Sessions led by Inspectors appointed by the Planning Inspectorate (PINS) held in December 2024.
Subsequently, a programme of additional works has now been undertaken with Main Modifications identified. These are changes to the Submission Local Plan that the Planning Inspector recommends necessary to make the plan legally compliant and sound.
The Council is now holding a six-week consultation to invite comments specifically on these proposed Main Modifications. Feedback should focus only on the modifications themselves, rather than on other aspects of the plan that remain unchanged.
The consultation runs until 4:30pm on Friday 5 September 2025 and focuses specifically on the following documents:
• Schedule of Proposed Main Modifications
• Schedule of Proposed Modifications to the Submitted Local Plan Policies Maps
• Main Modifications Sustainability Appraisal (including Habitats Regulations Assessment)
The consultation documents are available to view on the Council’s website at: www.ambervalley.gov.uk/mainmodificationsconsultation.
Hard copies are also available to view at various locations across the borough during normal opening hours.
Locations include Alfreton Library, Allestree Library, Belper Library, Duffield Library, Heanor Library, Mackworth Library, Ripley Library, Ripley Town Hall (AVBC Offices), and Somercotes Library.
Representations must be submitted using the representation form which can be downloaded from the Council’s website at www.ambervalley.gov.uk/mainmodificationsconsultation.
Completed forms can be returned by email to LDF@ambervalley.gov.uk or by post to Planning Policy Team, Amber Valley Borough Council, Town Hall, Market Place, Ripley, Derbyshire, DE5 3BT.
If you require a paper copy of the representation form, you can request one by emailing LDF@ambervalley.gov.uk or by calling 01773 841584.
All representations must be received by no later than 4:30pm on Friday 5 September 2025.
The Submission Local Plan, associated evidence and the latest news relating to the Local Plan Examination can be viewed on the Council’s Local Plan Examination webpage at www.ambervalley.gov.uk/localplanexamination.
