International Engineers Visit Broomfield Hall
A group of international engineers have visited Derby College’s Broomfield Hall in Morley as part of a training programme around the installation of modern air source heat pumps.
Engineers from the Australia and New Zealand operations at Trane Technologies joined a site visit and training session at Broomfield Hall where the company supplied the thermal system installed at Broomfield Hall to replace ageing coal-fired boilers.
Trane Technologies and contractors Carbon Plan Engineering won recognition for the installation recently at the European Heat Pump Awards held in Brussels.
The installation was part of a wider project supported by £3.6 million through the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme run by Salix which has also included the installation of solar panels and new LED lights at the college.
Derby College’s Director of Estates Iain Baldwin said: “The installation at Broomfield Hall continues to attract widespread interest from both the heating and education sectors – keen to learn more about how green, clean energy provision can be utilised on a greenfield site.
“We were delighted to welcome the engineers from Australia and New Zealand to the College to see the system in action as part of their installation training programme.”
