Be Kind & Rewind as VHS returns to the High Street in Alfreton
Do you remember those Friday and Saturday nights back in the 80s and 90s when you would make the trip to the local Video Shop and spend far too long scanning the video shelves? Not only to pick a film for the weekend but to stare in amazement at all the weird and wonderful films that were available with crazy, over the top artwork? Well, two friends want to bring that experience back as they open up their own 80s Video Shop called STRAIGHT TO VIDEO in Alfreton, Derbyshire on Saturday 23rd July.

Chris Annable, owner of GluPro Sports in Alfreton used to work in his local Video Shop whilst Rob Lane who presents the Straight To Video Podcast from which the shop takes its name, could never get a job in one! Together they have created their own 80s Video Shop - part Museum, part Movie Gift Shop which they hope will transport people back in time as they step into a snapshot of the past - long before YouTube, Netflix or even DVD. The new Straight To Video - 80s Video Shop features racks and racks of old, original VHS Tapes to browse, Movie Posters, Arcade Machines and even a wall of High School Lockers which they invite guests to sign or scribble a message or memory.
The Shop will have its grand opening on Saturday 23rd July and will feature a very special guest - Spencer Wilding who played Darth Vader in the hit Star Wars film Rogue 1 will be making an appearance and signing autographs.
Chris and Rob invite you to come along to relive the glory days of VHS, immerse yourself in the past and share memories with your children who have never experienced it.
The Straight To Video - 80s Video Shop will be open 10am - 4pm on Saturday 23rd July and is located above GluPro Sports, 11 King Street, Alfreton DE55 7AF.
Admission is Free but Donations are appreciated. There will be a charge for Spencer Wilding’s Autographs / Selfies.
