More online mental health training available for hair and beauty professionals
Barbers, hairdressers and beauticians across Derbyshire have another chance to take part in free, online mental health training.
Derbyshire County Council has commissioned training for people working in the hair and beauty profession to help them support their customers’ mental health.
The next free training session take place at 10am on Monday February 28th.
Councillor Carol Hart, Derbyshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Health and Communities, said: “This is the second in our series of free mental health training events for people working in the hair and beauty industry.
“Barbers, hairdressers and beauticians are in a unique position to have conversations with customers, and they have the chance to hold supportive, positive conversations around mental health.
“Sometimes it can feel easier to confide in people that you don’t see very often - and we’re keen to make sure that people are confident enough to be able have a conversation about mental health.
“This training will offer people the skills, knowledge and confidence to help them provide positive support to their clients and customers.”
The training is delivered by The Lions Barber Collective – an international group of top barbers who have come together to help raise awareness on suicide prevention.
You can sign up to the free training, that takes place on Monday February 28th at Event Bright www.eventbrite.co.uk – search for BarberTalk.
