Routine Safety Checks On Osborne's Pond
Routine safety checks are due to take place at Osborne’s Pond in Derbyshire County Council-run Shipley Country Park next week.
Work to check the condition of the dam wall and spillway is expected to take around a month.
The water level in Osborne’s Pond will be lowered temporarily and from 29 November, Shipley Lane bridleway will be closed to walkers and all other traffic at the point it crosses the spillway, close to the entrance from Roper Avenue, to allow this work to take place.
Diversions will be in place to direct visitors wishing to get to Shipley Hill and Derby Lodge Tea Rooms.
Councillor Carolyn Renwick, Derbyshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Infrastructure and Environment, said: “This is routine safety work which we have to carry out to make sure the condition of the dam is up to standard.
“We apologise for any inconvenience which may be caused while this important work takes place.”
