Council seeks operator for Belper River Gardens pleasure boats
Amber Valley Borough Council has today launched a competition to find an experienced commercial operator to run an expanded pleasure boating operation in Belper’s beautiful River Gardens.

With the exciting new tearooms nearing completion, the council believes that an expanded boating operation will provide an additional fun and healthy leisure activity to compliment the tearooms and enable visitors to the River Gardens to make full use of its beautiful riverside location, whilst taking the time to grab a bite to eat and something to drink.
The appointed operator will take over the running of the existing rowing boats and is encouraged to operate for a longer period each year, with the opportunity to introduce other types of small leisure boats to appeal to a range of park visitors, as well as organised boating activities.
Anyone who wishes to be considered, should have experience of running a similar successful boating operation. The council is particularly keen to ensure that the availability of boats is increased through a longer operating season and organised group activities and events at non-peak times.
Councillor Ben Bellamy, cabinet member for regeneration commented, "With the progress being made towards completing the new Swiss Tearooms, I’m excited to be able to launch this new and complimentary business opportunity that will see an operator appointed to take over and expand the existing boating operation, which I believe will be a real boon to us all as we emerge from lockdown. We are really keen to hear from people who have experience of running a similar successful boating operation."
Anyone wishing to submit their interest can do so by emailing their details to enquiry@ambervalley.gov.uk. The closing date for expressions of interest is 12 February 2021.
