More Vandalism At The Midland Railway, Butterley
Midland Railway, Butterley have suffered a second day of vandalism at a time when they have no income and are trying to raise funds to secure their future - can you help?
A statement from the Midland Railway, Butterley on their Facebook page
Unfortunately, it seems people cannot leave things alone. For the 2nd day in a row we have become victims to mindless vandalism across our site which has included smashing windows on Mark 1 coaching stock, signs of trying to force entry in through the corridor doors & also activity on the Narrow Gauge. This is absolutely heart-breaking for all of our staff & volunteers who spend endless hours right across the site trying to improve the visitor experience.
These careless hear...t-breaking acts just make our job list even longer for when it is safe to return. Today, a small select number of volunteers have been down, socially distancing putting in some extra measures to try and protect vehicles and buildings. We’re more determined than ever to stop these vandals from destroying something that is not there property, surely they would not like their personal property being wrecked so why destroy others?
Security across the site is now being tightened with even more site patrols happening every day from now to save our railway from more heartbreak. These repairs come with a heavy cost, every donation we receive will go a long way to helping us get back on our feet. Your messages of encouragement and offers of voluntary help have been expressed around all our volunteers and it is very heart warming in the tough times we’re in as a railway and a country.
if you feel you can make a donation to help us financially, every penny donated will be used to support the Midland Railway Trust Ltd through these difficult and uncertain times to help us secure our future.
