Invitation from the Police and Crime Commissioner

Published on Wednesday 17 May 2017

Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner Hardyal Dhindsa is inviting residents to quiz him on public safety and policing issues at his latest meeting on Monday (May 22).

The Commissioner’s Strategic Governance Board meeting, which takes place at Force HQ in Ripley from 2pm, will open with a 30-minute Q&A session when local people have the opportunity of submitting their questions in person, by email or twitter.

“These meetings offer local people the opportunity to question their PCC and their Chief Constable for clarity or understanding on any policing issue that matters to them,” said Mr Dhindsa.

“I am always ready and willing to engage with the people who live and work in Derbyshire and you can contact me at any time by email, letter, social media, my website or at one of the many public events I attend. My Strategic Governance Board meetings give the people we serve an immediate response to any concerns or reassurances they might wish to raise so that we can help address them.

“My job is to ensure Derbyshire Constabulary delivers the best service possible and to do this it really helps to have a clear idea of people’s needs, problems and their expectations for the county. I hope more people will take this opportunity to find out more about the work going on to make Derbyshire safer and discuss what we can do to make it better.”

Among the agenda items to be put before the board are progress reports on the PCC’s priorities of Domestic Abuse, Safeguarding Children and Safeguarding Adults (including Mental Health) and Rape and Serious Sexual Assault, all of which will be delivered by the Chief Constable.

There will also be a performance update on the latest crime statistics.

Residents are welcome to attend the full meeting but may not take part once the Q&A is complete. The business part of the meeting will begin if the Q&A is shorter than 30 minutes.

Followers of @DerbysPCC and @DerbysPolice can tweet their questions by using #askSGB in the text of the question. Questions via twitter should arrive no later than 2.15pm on Monday to allow time for a response. Questions can also be submitted in advance via email to the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (pccoffice@derbyshire.pnn.police.uk). All questions will be answered either at the meeting or shortly afterwards if information needed is not at hand.
