Cops call at drop in session for young people in Heanor
Police in Heanor called in to chat to local young people during a drop in session at Blend Youth Project.
PCSO Emma Fisher of the Heanor and Loscoe Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team and Youth Involvement Officer, PC Tony Bagshaw called in to the centre on Thursday, May 2.
The session was set up by Blend Youth Project to offer young people the chance to meet their local police and chat about any issues affecting them.
Blend Youth Project, set up by local charity Valley CIDS, helps support services for young people with the aim of ‘raising aspirations and releasing potential’.
They run a youth centre on Mundy Street which provides young people with a coffee bar, internet access and a games area where they can meet.
PCSO Emma Fisher, of the Heanor and Loscoe Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We were really pleased to be offered the chance to meet local young people and speak to them about any issues or concerns that they have.
“The session gave us an opportunity to chat in an informal setting and hopefully helped us to build positive relationships between young people and their local police.”
