Police announce new recruitment campaign
Derbyshire Constabulary is beginning the process for recruiting police officers to the force.
This year all applications must be made on the internet and prospective candidates need to complete online assessments before they qualify for an application form.
Assistant Chief Constable Dee Collins said: “We are using the web-based process this year because we expect that a large number of people will be interested in joining the police.
“Our experience from last year, when we were inundated with calls, showed we needed a better system than telephone applications. This time anyone who wants to apply must go through a three-stage assessment to see if they are eligible to receive an application form.
“We have also imposed a minimum educational standard of an A level or equivalent and all applicants must hold a full, manual, driving licence.”
The first phase of the online assessment opens on May 7 and runs thorough to May 10 with the second and third phases during the following two weeks.
Police expect that the new recruits will fill a small number of vacancies during 2014.
