Ambergate Estate cars event August 17th
Sunday August 17th sees the Great British Car Journey at Derwent Works, Ambergate, DE56 2HE, host its Estate car event. These practical carry-alls were the car of choice for large families and small businesses before the rise of the MPV and SUV and also boasted some very high performance cars in their ranks too. Called variously Avant, Tourer, Touring, Sportsbrake or Shooting Brake, they are all true estates, from the 1950s to the present day and are classics in their own right.
Visitors can not only see a wide variety of models, with a number of owners' clubs attending this event, but can also tour the museum with its full interactive experience, taking them through the history of the British motor industry from the early 1900s to the current day, with over 140 cars on display, featuring some for the most popular and iconic British cars, family favourites and forgotten heroes.
The August 17th event itself features, and invites owners of all estate cars. Come along and see, or better still bring your own Estate, for fellow enthusiasts to enjoy and benefit from a discounted admission by clicking the link below.
