Local opticians puts charity in focus
AN opticians in Belper is marking its ninth year supporting Macmillan Cancer Support as colleagues prepare for a fundraising event to coincide with the charity’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
The team at Specsavers Belper are dusting off their aprons to prepare for a bumper cake sale on Saturday 14 October. There will also be a raffle in aid of the charity that provides support to those affected by cancer, helping with medical, financial and emotional support.
The King Street store colleagues are calling on the local community to support their fundraising efforts as they look to add to the £950 they’ve already raised for the charity so far this year. In return for donations visitors to the store will be able to enjoy a delicious treat from an array of homemade cakes and goodies, or enter the raffle to be in with a chance of winning a £75 gift card to put towards their next pair of specs.
‘Fundraising is really important to us in-store,’ Andy McBride, store director at Specsavers Belper, says. ‘Macmillan is an amazing charity, and we are looking forward to continuing our commitment to raising funds to support the important work they do.
‘Our customers and the local community are always so supportive of our fundraising for a cause close to all the team’s hearts. We realise that times are tough at the moment, due to the ongoing living crisis, so any donations will be appreciated.’
Entries to the raffle are a suggested £1 donation which can be paid in cash or via a QR code in store that links to a dedicated GoFundMe page https://gofund.me/3f05a35e
