Pye Hill & District Male Voice Choir Looking For New Members

Published on Friday 5 February 2016

The Pye Hill & District Male Voice Choir is actively seeking new members of all ability to join them.

Currently, the choir have 22 members and would like to increase its ranks in all areas, particularly bass and first tenors but all singers are equally welcome.

It’s a great time to join the choir who have once again a full concert programme for the year, exciting joint concerts and venues, including Derby Cathedral and a tour to Babbacombe in Devon.

Last year the choir sang in seventeen concerts and engagements and expect a similar number in 2016. The choir were first formed in 1903 and have a wonderful history and heritage and this is your opportunity to take part in its continued adventures.

Whether you are an experienced singer, or spend your time singing to yourself in the bathroom or car and interested in just giving it a go, we are interested in you! It could not be simpler to join, just come along to the Dale Club, Jacksdale on a Monday evening at 7.30p.m. and say hello! There are no auditions or tests and you will be immediately put at ease and made to feel welcome. At first you can just sit and listen, or have a sing straight away. Bring friends and family to join at the same time if it helps you feel at ease, whatever makes you happy.

You will be given every assistance and for less than £2.00  a week receive the benefit of experienced Musical Directors, pianist, practise CD’s, mentoring, coaching, concert jacket and tie; in fact all you need to soon become an established member of the choir. No payment will be expected of you for the first couple of weeks, so you have nothing to lose by giving it a go.

In joining the choir you will quickly find that it opens up a whole new social world and you will soon make new friends. You don’t have to be a Russell Watson or Pavarotti. Most singers are not soloists and make up the chorus but if you are of that quality this would be great as most concerts provide solo opportunities to the more talented members, who all get an opportunity.

If you would like any further information in joining the choir, please contact Malcolm Hill on malcolmscotthill@btinternet.com telephone 01773 602743 or 0770 6036 946. Further information is available on the choir’s website at: www.pyehillmvc.co.uk
