Alfreton, Ripley and William Gregg VC Leisure Centres rated 'outstanding'
All three Leisure leisure Centrescentres, managed by Places for People Leisure limited on behalf of Amber Valley Borough Council, have passed the toughest assessment offered by Sport England’s leading national quality assurance scheme, ‘Quest’, and be rated ‘Outstanding’.
Quest is the best-known and most widely used improvement programme within the leisure industry. Its rigorous assessment and validation processes challenge even the very best leisure centres in the UK.
In order to qualify for the highest level a leisure facility can achieve, the centres must have been rated ‘excellent’ in their previous Quest assessment. To achieve the top award, which designates Centres as ‘outstanding’, Alfreton, Ripley and William Gregg VC Leisure Centres went through a rigorous two-day assessment process, plus a mystery visit. To make the process even tougher, managers were not informed when the assessor or mystery visitor would be arriving.
The three Amber Valley Leisure leisure Centres centres remain within the very select band of Centres centres that have achieved the ‘Outstanding’ accreditation with only four other facilities nationally having achieved this accolade. The Centres also remain the only contract to have achieved the renewal of this prestigious award.
Councillor David Taylor, Cabinet Member for Housing and Public Health states; : “It is a great honour that our leisure centres have retained their ‘Outstanding’ status in the Quest assessment and remain at the pinnacle of a league table of over 600 centres across the country. Congratulations to all of the staff at Places for People Leisure who have worked tirelessly to achieve the award and continue to deliver great services to all of our customers.”
Peter Sharkey, General Manager for the Amber Valley Contract, said: “This is a fantastic achievement and a real team effort. Quest Stretch is much more than a tick-box exercise; it is an ongoing programme designed to measure our impact and outcomes with service improvements and increased level and commitment to customer care. The award also recognises the Centre’s contribution to the health and well-being of our communities, which is becoming of increasing importanceincreasingly important.
Quest’s operations director, Caroline Constantine, said: “Quest Stretch is the highest accreditation that can be achieved and as such it is an extremely demanding process. By meeting Quest Stretch’s very high standards, Alfreton, Ripley and William Gregg VC Leisure Centres have shown its their commitment to providing quality facilities and service to its their customers. In these tough economic times it is more important than ever that local leisure facilities can demonstrate their value, and Quest Stretch accreditation helps them do just that.”
