First Dog A.I.D. qualification since Lockdown V1.0
November 2020: Dog A.I.D., a national charity who help people with disabilities to train their own pet dog to become a life-saving Assistance Dog, is pleased to announce the first qualification since Lockdown V1.0. Rhiannon Moore, 35, is delighted to have achieved this status with her dog Beanie just before Lockdown V2.0 was introduced.
Rhiannon who is married and from Belper in Derbyshire, has M.E., Fibromyalgia and complex Regional Pain Syndrome. This leaves her with limited mobility and movement, struggling with severe pain, extreme fatigue and problems with her joints. Her English Springer Spaniel, Beanie, is 5 years old and now fully qualified to help Rhiannon with many tasks she finds difficult.
“Beanie picks up dropped items, loads and unloads the washing machine, helps me remove clothing and shoes plus much more,” comments Rhiannon. "I am delighted to have him as my qualified Assistance Dog; he brightens up even the darkest of days with his little wagging tail and reassuring paw. It’s lovely to know he’s always there to help me and gives me so much more confidence. When my body lets me down, my boy is always there for me with unconditional love and support. He was amazing during the last lockdown, giving me companionship, purpose and keeping me smiling. I had something to focus on and loved using the extra time to teach him new things and keep his assistance task training going.”
