Sixteen new buses turn rainbow one greener
Sixteen brand new greener buses have joined the rainbow one fleet, one of trentbarton’s longest running and most popular services.
trentbarton’s £2.6 million investment in new ultra-low emission buses will deliver cleaner and more comfortable journeys between Nottingham and Kimberley, Eastwood, Heanor, Ripley and Alfreton.
Built in Britain by Alexander Dennis, the new Enviro200 buses exceeds the latest Euro VI emissions standard, with each bus emiting less nitrogen dioxide than a new car. They also use green stop-start technology to further reduce emissions.
They feature a smoother ride, glazed skylights, LED lighting including under seats, plus free superfast WiFi and USB power at every seat. Each bus has a ‘power bar’ for wireless charging of smart phones and other digital devices.
Each of the new buses has 41 seats and all are COVID-secure, with hand sanitiser for customers, screens for the drivers and overnight deep cleaning plus regular cleans each day at Nottingham’s Victoria Bus Station
Jeff Counsell, managing director at trentbarton, said: “rainbow one is already hugely valued by its customers who use it to get to work, to school, to shop and have fun. Now they can travel in even greater style aboard these super new buses.
“trentbarton is constantly improving the customer experience, from the quality of the onboard comforts to improved journey times and punctuality. And the more people travel on our greener buses, the more we’ll all help improve the air we all breathe.
“Making our buses COVID-secure is the number one priority and everyone can be reassured that travelling on rainbow one, as on all our services, is a safe, comfortable and value for money way to get around.”
The new rainbow one buses have ticketing technology that accepts the new mango app, contactless debit and credit cards, Apple and Android devices, saver and concessionary passes. Cash can also be used. mango card users should migrate to the free mango app to travel on rainbow one.
