700 New Homes Proposed For Somercotes
Amber Valley Borough Council have been setting out housing requirements for the area over the next few years and up to now had not pursued any sites in Somercotes
However in their latest document they have added in proposals to encourage developers to seek planning permission for three sites in Somercotes meaning an overall development of 500-700 new homes (Visit AVBC website – 5 Year Housing Supply April 2014 – March 2019 for further information).
The sites in question are both sides of Birchwood Lane and land off Somercotes Hill.
If developed this would produce one massive estate of houses considerably increasing the size of Somercotes and putting massive strain on already creaking infrastructure, in particular the road network.
The Annual Parish Meeting (not a Parish Council Meeting) is your chance to ‘Have Your Say’, on Friday, 9th May from 7pm, at the Village Hall, Nottingham Road, Somercotes – This is your opportunity to have your voice heard about these proposed developments.
Please attend this meeting and let your Parish Council know what you think of these proposals. The Parish Council will hold a meeting after the Annual Parish Meeting to discuss your views that must be taken into consideration.
Please remember that this is not a decision taken by the Parish Council, but they can represent your views to Amber Valley Borough Council.
