Advice for Business : COVID- 19

Amber Valley Borough Council appreciate that the current situation is likely to be of the greatest concern to businesses.   


The Treasury and government are taking measures to protect the public and support businesses and will roll out specific support including grant funding via Local Government and HRMC. 

Business support, advice and guidance is available and posted on  www.ambervalley.gov.uk/business  This includes direct links to other support agencies and is evolving daily, so please check back regularly. The webpage is updated frequently and you are encouraged to access the available guidance and support, including information relating to accessing business loans, grants and financial support for the self-employed.   

The Council anticipate that the Small Business Grant Fund and Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant Funds will be rolled out to eligible business from 1st April.   Eligible businesses will be contacted directly by the Council and do not need to apply. This information will be sent out by post to the address given when the business premises was registered with the Business Rates Department.  Further details can be found here.  If you have a specific business rates enquiry please call 01773 841444 or email nndr@ambervalley.gov.uk 

The Government has announced the new Self Employed Income Support Scheme to extend support to the self-employed*.    HMRC will contact you directly if you are eligible and you will be invited to apply online.    This scheme is open to you if you are self-employed* or a member of a partnership and have lost income due to coronavirus.  *This scheme may allow you to claim a taxable grant worth 80% of your trading profits up to a maximum of £2,500 per month for the next 3 months, subject to eligibility.   More details can be found here www.gov.uk/guidance/claim-a-grant-through-the-coronavirus-covid-19-self-employment-income-support-scheme.

Additional sources of business finance may be secured via the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS) now available through participating lenders.

Businesses experiencing an upturn in demand and looking to connect and recruit to short or long term vacancies to meet the changes to your business; are encouraged to register vacancies via the D2N2 Employment Support Adviser by Email: John.Blankley@futuresforyou.com
