Belper care home crowned Outstanding by CQC
A care home in Belper has been rated ‘Outstanding’ by recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) report. The home, Spencer Grove, is the second care home in the Milford Care group to receive this esteemed accolade.
Located at Springwood Gardens, Spencer Grove is the only care home for older people in Belper area to be crowned ‘Outstanding’, and one out of three in the Derbyshire area, two of which are a part of the Milford Care group. The group have six homes across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire and are well-known for their leading, family-run homes. They have received many awards over the years including Regional Winner at the Great British Care Awards.
The CQC report said, ‘People's well-being was at the core of the service. There was an open and inclusive culture at the home, people were actively encouraged to be independent and have purpose and meaning in their lives. There was a culture of continuous improvement with a clear focus on ensuring any changes enhanced the quality of the service people received.
The report also said, ‘People received excellent, effective care and support from a highly skilled staff team. Staff were caring and kind. People were treated with dignity and respect. Staff clearly knew people well and respected people's individuality.’
Donna Annable, Home Manager of Spencer Grove said: “We are extremely proud to have received ‘Outstanding’ from CQC. This is the result of all the hard work and dedication that the whole team have given to the residents over the last 11 years. Spencer Grove has recently had a complete refurbishment and the home is looking incredible – to now have Outstanding is the cherry on top of the cake.”
Spencer Grove is close to the town centre of Belper, which has recently been awarded the ‘Best High Street in England’. The home boasts roof-top views of the Derbyshire countryside, spacious and communal areas including large lounges, cosy dining areas and indoor garden rooms. Coupled with the brand’s Montessori approach, Milford Care is a pioneer in the approach taking into account each resident’s individual strengths, abilities and values.
Spencer Grove provides a full range of dedicated services including residential and nursing care, dementia care, long term and short-term respite breaks and day care.
