Council seeks operator for Belper's exciting new Swiss Tearooms
Amber Valley Borough Council has today launched a competition to find an experienced commercial operator to run Belper’s new Swiss Tearooms (pictured).
Despite recent challenges hampering access to Belper River Gardens, such as the river Derwent flooding in November and accident damage to a retaining wall; the new Swiss Tearooms is on course for completion during spring 2020. The council is therefore seeking an operator, so the new tearooms can be up and running as soon as construction is complete.
Anyone who wishes to be considered, should have experience of running a successful food business, selling good quality hot and cold food and drinks. The council is particularly keen to ensure that the operator provides a menu that reflects the tastes of local residents and visitors, as well as requiring that the new Swiss Tearooms is open throughout the year and at evenings during the peak season.
Councillor Ben Bellamy, cabinet member for regeneration commented: "With the progress being made towards completing the new Swiss Tearooms, I’m excited to be able to launch this competition that will help us appoint the right operator and ensure the long-term success of the new Swiss Tearooms. This is a unique opportunity within the very heart of the World Heritage Site.
"The council has already had a good deal of interest, but we are keen to provide a further opportunity for anyone wanting to register their interest in running the tearooms."
Anyone wishing to submit their interest can do so by e-mailing their details to enquiry@ambervalley.gov.uk. The closing date for expressions of interest is 9 February 2020.
