The Amber Band release their new album 'Christmas Songs'

Published on Sunday 8 December 2019

THE Amber Band has released a Christmas album with ten original songs written and produced by the band themselves. Simon Martin, the band’s bass player, came up with the idea of writing and recording new Christmas songs. Simon said, “The original idea was to release an EP but, like everything to do with Christmas, we ended up with more than we planned”.

Guitarist and vocalist Kevin Quinlan said: “We just wanted to write and record some different songs for Christmas. While we all enjoy the traditional popular songs we hear every year, we wanted to produce something fresh for people to listen to during the festive season.”

The Amber Band is made up of Simon Martin (bass guitar), Kevin Quinlan (guitars), Denise Quinlan (keyboards), Paul Shirley (saxophone) and new percussionist Ian Kirke. The band takes its name from the village of Ambergate in Derbyshire where Kevin, Denise and Ian live.

The band usually write songs in the indie/alternative genre and also released their second album called “Salt and Gold” in November. Salt and Gold, is very much in the indie/alternative genre, offering strong harmonic and melodic content, along with an abundance of saxophone.

Both albums are available on CD or can be downloaded via Spotify, i-Tunes, Simply Home Entertainment, Apple Music, Amazon, Google Play and all major online stores. All proceeds from the albums will be donated to charity, including the Ambergate fund raising appeal to help people affected by the recent flooding.

The Amber band can be contacted via their Facebook page or by calling 01773 279589 or 07712-601100.v
