Heanor town centre - have your say

Published on Friday 18 October 2019

Amber Valley Borough Council is bidding for funds to help regenerate Heanor town centre and is appealing for local people to play a part in the process. The council would like to know what locals would like to see in the town and what they feel should be changed to inspire more people to spend time in the town and make the most of the area.

The council is preparing a second stage bid for the Government’s Future High Streets Fund to develop Heanor town centre, and if successful, may secure money to invest in the town.

Public consultation will take place at 1 Market Street, Heanor, DE75 7NR (former Go Mobile Shop) at the following times:

Thursday 24 October - 2pm to 6pm

Saturday 26 October - 10am to 2pm

The shop is a central location and offers easy for everyone to participate.

If the bid is successful, funding could be used to develop the town centre into a more appealing place to shop, socialise, live and work. Projects may include improvements to the market place and key buildings, as well as greater pedestrian connectivity and potentially new business space and housing.

The exhibition of proposals will remain on display in the shop window, by kind permission of Ian Elder, and be available to view online and to complete up until Saturday 9th November at www.ambervalley.gov.uk/shapeyourtown.

Comments Amber Valley Borough Council’s Deputy Leader and portfolio holder for regeneration, Councillor Ben Bellamy: “This is an exciting time for Heanor and we hope as many local people as possible will share their views and ideas with us, during the consultation period, to help us create a strong case for funding.”
