Somercotes Choral Society performing Songs for All Seasons
Somercotes Choral Society’s October concert is entitled ‘Songs for all Seasons.’ It will take the audience on a journey through the four seasons.
The concert is at Somercotes Village Hall on Saturday 26th October at 7pm.
They will be joined by Nottingham soprano Ellie Martin.
Tickets are £9 and £4.50 for under 16s. They are available from Jen Adams on 01773 789079.
Jen, the Choral Society’s Chairwoman, says: “This will be the second performance we have given in the village hall. In April we had a full house and a very appreciative audience.
“As the title suggests we are taking a trip through the seasons to give a varied programme of light music which should appeal to everyone.”
Songs include: ‘Over the Rainbow,’ Stormy Weather,’ Those Lazy Hazy Crazy Days of Summer,’ ‘Summertime’ and many more.
The guest artist Ellie Martin studied Vocal Performance at Trinity College of Music, graduating in 2010 with First Class Honours. For over ten years she has been working as a professional soprano, singing teacher, vocal animateur and choral conductor.
Ellie is originally from London, but moved to Nottingham three years ago to undertake a master’s degree in Psychology at Nottingham Trent University, in which she gained a Distinction last summer. She is Youth Choir Director at Nottingham Cathedral, Musical Director at Mansfield Choral Society, Conductor of Sherwood Daytime Voices and Head of Singing at Repton School
The Choral Society’s Musical Director is Neil Farley of Belper and the accompanist is John Hobbs of Risley. The choir practises at Swanwick School and Sports College, Hayes Lane, Swanwick every Tuesday evening. They welcome new members, particularly men.
