Cuppa with a Copper comes to Somercotes and Alfreton

Published on Saturday 17 August 2019

Cuppa with a Copper is coming to Somercotes and Alfreton next week as part of a series of mobile sessions in parts of the Amber Valley.

Our officers will be bringing the Mobile Police Station to Somercotes Park on Monday afternoon, and the Tesco car park in Alfreton on Tuesday morning, to meet local residents and chat about concerns over a drink and a biscuit.

People will be able to discuss any policing issues with members of their local Safer Neighbourhood policing team, and will also be able to sign up for Derbyshire Alert to be kept updated of crime in their neighbourhood.

The ‘Cuppa with a Copper Goes Mobile’ sessions are taking place throughout the summer as part of the Safer Together campaign, which marks new investment in the force that will see 120 new posts created working to improve police presence in neighbourhoods and bolster investigations.

The investment came after consultation with the public revealed they were willing to pay extra in council tax to fund an increase in police resources in neighbourhoods, and it will also be put towards improving road safety and providing greater support to vulnerable people, including those in mental health crisis.

Recruitment to the new roles is under way with posts all due to be in place by the end of the summer.

The team will be at Somercotes Park, on Monday 19 August between 2pm and 4pm, and at the Tesco car park in Alfreton on Tuesday 20 August between 10am and 12 noon.

Refreshments have been donated by Tesco in Alfreton.

Other dates for the Cuppa with a Copper goes mobile include:

Please look out further details for posters, on Derbyshire Alert and on the Alfreton Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team Facebook page, www.facebook.com/AlfretonSNormantonPinxtonSomercotesRiddingsSNT.

If you are not able to make the event but would like to speak to the team they can be contacted through the following non-emergency methods:

You can sign up to Derbyshire Alert for free community safety alerts, crime information and messages at www.derbyshirealert.co.uk.
