Free lambing open day at Croots Farm Shop in Derbyshire on Sunday 28th April
Derbyshire farm shop Croots is staging its popular lambing day on Sunday 28th April.
Free to visit, the event is the chance to drop into the lambing sheds and see some of the lambs that have been born at Farnah House Farm, Wirksworth Road, near Duffield, this spring.
Visitors can get up close to pet the lambs and may even get the chance to bottle feed some of them. Kay Croot and husband Steve, who run the farm shop, will be on hand to answer any questions.
The event, which runs from 11am to 4pm, is also the chance to see the two new Shire horse foals born at the farm recently.
Cowerslane Isabella and Cowerslane Wendy can be seen in the fields around the popular farm shop, where a number of Shire horses live.
“We’ve had more than 100 lambs born already, including several sets of twins and a number of triplets, and we have just a few more expected over the coming days,” said Kay Croot.
“Our event on Sunday 28th April is the chance for visitors to find out more about life on a working farm and to get up close to some of our lambs.
“Last year we had hundreds of visitors, making it one of our most popular events, and we are looking forward to seeing our regular customers and those who haven’t yet discovered us, just outside Duffield off Wirksworth Road.”
A barbecue will be running during the day.
Croots Farm Shop is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm (Shires Eatery until 4.30pm) and from 10am to 4pm on Sundays. Croots runs Fresh Fish Thursdays between 9am and 1pm on Thursdays.
