Steampunk Day at Crich Tramway Village
Saturday 6th October sees the return of the popular Steampunk Day at Crich Tramway Village, near Matlock.
The activities feature alternative history combined with science fantasy for all the family.
For the children, activities include colouring competitions, a ‘cog hunt’ and comedy magic and balloon modelling.
If you’re planning to visit dressed as a Steampunk, you can enjoy discounted admission rates and there’s a competition for ‘best dressed’ Steampunk decided by public vote, with prize for the winner.
Entertainment includes Soluna Dance exotic steampunk dancers, music from Lone Dog, hoola hoopers, Victorian poetry and prose, tea duelling and snake charming.
Adding to the atmosphere will be a Suffragette march, Steampunk motorcycle and camper van and Steampunk traders.
Marketing Manager, Amanda Blair, said: “This is the third year we have welcomed Steampunks at the Well from Lincoln, who organise the activities, and Crich Tramway Village provides the perfect background. The event has gained in popularity each year and our Vintage trams will be running as usual throughout the day.”
Michael Crane, organiser from Steampunks at the Well in Lincoln said:
“For those not familiar with Steampunk three words succinctly describes us: ‘Victorian time travellers. We’re not the best people at ‘blending in’; it’s difficult to keep a low profile dressed in top hats and goggles, or dressed as a flamboyant pirate, or dressed in faux armour brandishing a customised Nerf gun. In Steampunk almost anything goes – and it’s for this reason that it’s very unlikely you’ll ever see two dressed the same. We are a welcoming genre in which you can be yourself or someone else. So, be you Steampunk or Steam-Curious, I’m certain you’ll be entertained, amazed and will have a fantastic day out with us on 6 October."
