Classic Motorcycle Day at Crich Tramway Village, Derbyshire
On Sunday 1st July 2018, Crich Tramway Village, in conjunction with the Vincent H.R. D. Owners’ Club, will be running a Classic Motorcycle Day at the National Tramway Museum, Crich, near Matlock.
This is the second year for the event and with the popularity of last year’s Classic Motorcycle Day and the numbers of registrations so far for 2018, it looks set to become an annual event on the classic motorcycle calendar.
The National Tramway Museum, set in the heart of Derbyshire, is a charitable organisation, with a large number of volunteers, whose motivation is to preserve the history of the tram, and the Vincent H.R.D Owners’ Club have a huge interest in classic motorcycles, so this event combines the passions of the two groups of transport enthusiasts.
Last year, bathed in sunshine, over 300 classic motorcycles and over 1500 visitors attended the Classic Motorcycle Day, and this year it is likely to be even more popular.
It’s free entry for all classic motorcycle exhibitors, thanks to local skip & grab hire firm ’Derwent Waste Management’, who have yet again sponsored the event.
There will be prizes awarded for ‘Best British Motorcycle’, ‘Best International Motorcycle’ decided by a judge and ‘Best in Show’ which will be decided by a public vote.
New for this year is an additional award for ‘Best Classic Motorcycle in Original Condition’ ((i.e. non-restored), which will be supplied and presented by Peter Kelly, Editor of Old Bike Mart magazine.
Everyone has full access to the Museum. There’s a shop, tearoom and Red Lion pub and food will be served until 5.00pm. In addition, there will be some amazing displays of classic motorcycles and unlimited tram rides all set in the beautiful surroundings of the Derbyshire countryside.
Admission costs £17.00 for adults, £13.00 for seniors, £10.00 for children, or £40.00 for a family ticket (two adults and 3 children). These prices include free return within 12 months (subject to opening dates and excluding the World War II events).
For motorcyclists on modern bikes, there is a reduced entry price of £10.50 for Sunday 1st July 2018.
Registration for the event is via www.tramway.co.uk up-dates will be posted on https://www.facebook.com/crichtramwayvillage. You can also contact Crich Tramway Village on: 01773 854321.
