E Type Jags visit Heage Windmill
The area around Heage was treated to an amazing sight this weekend when more than 20 models of that truly iconic car , the E Type Jaguar, built between 1961 and 1975, visited Heage Windmill on Sunday August 6th. The car was based on the earlier D Type model which had won the Le Mans GP three times, way back in 1955, 56 and 57!
One after another various versions these multi coloured darlings of the 1960’s and 70’s roared up the drive and came to rest in the inner car park. These sleek, low profile cars were in superb condition and the owners were members of the E-Type owners club, with the cars, from all over the country, taking part in a ‘High Peak’ tour.
Lots of people turned out to see the cars and then went on to enjoy the delights of visiting Heage’s almost unique six sail windmill and the glorious vistas which surround her. All profits from the day will go to helping maintain the mill in working order.
The windmill will be open during 2017 (11-00am to 4-00pm) every weekend from
April 1st until the end of October.
