This dynamic Nashville-based husband and wife Americana duo surely 'rattle the hocks', crafting real emotive, shiver-up-the-spine-inducing country-rock songs - drawn from their hard travelling expeditions along the Mississippi's Great River Road, riding the old American railroad and burning motorcycle rubber exploring the strange and mysterious world that is the 'Mother Road' (Route 66). Passionate, joyful, harmonious and captivating.
Throughout this dynamic Americana set, peppered with tales of storied lives on the road, fine harmony singing, strong song-craft and rootsy, fleet-fingered, virtuoso guitar playing is brought to bear to blues, gospel-roots, folk and heartland rock, all played with hearts firmly on sleeves.
Lifelong couple, both romantic and musical, Alyssa and Doug Graham have been performing together since they were teenagers. A dynamic Americana duo who've married their love of adventure with a desire to build on foundations laid by their musical predecessors, these traveling troubadours are always itching for the next ride out of town, guitars and whiskey in tow.
'Doug's mastery of the resonator guitar is matched by Alyssa's spectacularly dexterous vocal chords ensuring their blend is beautifully matched to the breadth and scope of their music.' American Roots UK
'Real emotive, powerful lyrics that make your hairs on your arms stick up.' Fatea Records
In 2013 their first song-crafting expedition took them down the Mississippi to the Atchafalaya swamp in Louisiana where their songs of the lazy river came together. Then in 2015 it was the American rails, and a cross-country odyssey that resulted in not only an album but an award-winning film.
'Our methodology is to follow the paths and revisit the places that inspired our predecessors, not because we want to imitate them or faithfully reproduce their work, but because we are looking for the modern echo of older sounds, and hope to give shape to these enduring reverberations. Nothing can serve that methodology better than riding the rails. There is a special connection between American folk music and the railroad that has no parallel elsewhere in the world. Rail lines stitch together the sprawling fabric of American song. As writers of Americana music, our goal is to draw on the deep, recurring sources of American folk culture, giving them new shape.' The Grahams Much praised by American Songwriter, USA Today and the New York Times, in 2017, The Grahams embarked on perhaps their most adventurous journey yet, pointing their Harleys west to explore the 'Mother Road' and the concept of 'real' America with the eccentric and notorious characters who live and work in the strange and mysterious world that is Route 66.
