The SSAFA football team came about when Alan Clever asked Phil Handley about fundraising for a young soilder from Pinxton who had two below knee amputations and other injuries while serving in Afghanistan, Phil asked SSAFA if they would like to be involved and they offered their full support, the game Pinxton Village Youth v Heanor Town was a complete success raising about £5500.
The football team’s most important job is the raise the profile of SSAFA, though the medium of football, and of course, raise as much money as possible for injured soldiers, Last season the football team raised £3001.

Our Chairman is Gordon Hoggan was shot on mount Tumbledown in the Falklands war, Gordon was supported and helped by SSAFA and has worked on their behalf ever since, Everyone involved with SSAFA Football Club does it voluntary.
