Venues across Derbyshire encouraged to sign up to become Safe Places
Shops, restaurants, businesses, public buildings and visitor attractions are being encouraged to sign up to become a Safe Place for residents.
A Safe Place is somewhere where people can go if they need help, are lost or feel scared when out in the community.
Venues can help with things like calling family members or the emergency services and offering a safe area for people to wait until help arrives.
More than 230 venues are already part of the scheme which is run by Derbyshire County Council. Venues will be given a Safe Places sticker to display and they will be listed on the Safe Places app.
Derbyshire County Council Cabinet Member for Health and Communities, Councillor Carol Hart, said: “We’re delighted to have more than 230 Safe Places across Derbyshire.
“Feeling lost, scared or needing help when out and about can happen to any of us and at any time in our lives so it’s great that we have so many venues offering a temporary place of safety.
“If you’d be able to offer a Safe Place for residents, we’d love to hear from you.”
Venues can find out more about becoming a Safe Place and apply at www.derbyshire.gov.uk/safeplaces or email
