The Derby Santa Run 2024 is coming to Markeaton Park
The Derby Santa Run 2024 is coming to Markeaton Park on Sunday, December 8th, inviting the whole community to join in a festive 5k fun run organised by Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity in collaboration with eight local Derby charities.
The event is open to adults, children, and even four-legged friends, encouraging everyone to participate in this festive event. Participants will receive a free Santa suit and are welcome to run, walk, skip, or dance their way around the course. Along the route, there will be festive surprises, a brass band, hot food, and live DJ music to keep spirits high. Runners will also have the chance to meet the hospital charity’s mascot, Lambie!
“We’re thrilled to bring Derby’s largest festive fun run to Markeaton Park this December. We hope to see hundreds of adults, children, and even their dogs come out in support of the important work done by our own charity and that of our 8 charity partners,” said Jill Matthews, Chief Officer at Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity.
“It’s a wonderful chance for everyone to have a fun-filled day, while supporting a local cause that’s meaningful to them. This event promises a fantastic atmosphere, festive music and a true sense of community spirit. There may also be some special surprises along the route.”
The event has its own Derby Santa Run website, thederbysantarun.co.uk, where people can buy tickets, view the course map and find answers to frequently asked questions. Participants can just take part in the event, or they can choose to fundraise for Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity or any of the eight partner charities, which include:
• Friends of the Baby Unit (FOBU) • Safe and Sound
• Me&Dee • Rebuild
• The Derbyshire Cricket Foundation • Umbrella
• The YMCA Derbyshire • Love4Life
Tickets are priced at £15 for adults and £5 for children under 16. Well-behaved dogs can join for free, with dog bandanas available for £3.
For a fun, festive day out that also supports great local causes, join the Derby Santa Run this December!
