Police & Crime Commissioner brings police base back to Alfreton town centre
Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner Angelique Foster has worked with Derbyshire Constabulary to ensure the return of a police base in Alfreton bringing officers closer to the community they serve.
PC Adam Hardy, the Commissioner and Sgt James Bowler
Police and Crime Commissioner Angelique Foster said: "This is a significant milestone for the communities of Alfreton who will be pleased to welcome back their neighbourhood police officers to a base in the town centre.
"I have made it clear that I expect to see stronger and more visible policing across the county. This is what the public want. Increasing the number of officers and making sure they remain agile and are best-placed to respond to the public is vital to making the force more effective and increasing public confidence.
"The return of an Alfreton police base to the town centre will provide reassurance to local people and will ensure our officers remain at the heart of community life."
Alfreton's Safer Neighbour Team (SNT) was forced to move out of the town into accommodation in force headquarters, Ripley, following a change of use to their original base nearly four years ago.
A new site in Kings Street in the town centre has now been secured which will see the team return to the heart of the community.
The new base has been recently refurbished and remodelled to provide suitable office space and welfare facilities for the team. There is also additional capacity to house other teams which will help the force reduce pressure on HQ facilities and pave the way for the delivery of further sustainability planning.
