Rough Truffles Community Choir was started in Belper in 1999 by local people with a shared interest in singing songs from both the UK and further afield, reflecting a wealth of musical styles and genres. From folk to gospel, Syrian to African, peace to protest, traditional to newly composed, we’ve traversed the musical globe and sung down the ages.

Led by the inspirational and ever-patient Frances Watt, we learn by ear and meet on Monday evenings at No 28, Belper Market Place.

We are a mixed voice community choir who welcome everyone, we don’t audition and we learn music by ear.  Apart from singing we also spend a lot of time talking, laughing and making new friends. Choir on  a Monday night is a tonic, a sanctuary and somewhere just to be you.
